About the Finex Project

In a fast-changing corporate world with high demand for technical and analytical skills, equipping students with Microsoft Excel, Financial Modeling and Analytics skills has become important in positioning them for a rewarding career.

Inspired by the increased interest from corporate clients in acquiring Financial modeling, Microsoft Excel and Analytics skills, Finex Skills Hub realized that equipping students early in school with these skills will be more fruitful and effective.

Students who learn these skills in advance will come to the corporate world well prepared for their various roles.

Finex Skills Hub therefore expanded the scope of its training programs to reach University of Ghana students pro-bono. Thus, since October 2018, Finex through its lead trainer, Bernard Obeng Boateng has been providing training sessions to students at the University of Ghana at the Ghana-Korea Information Access Center.

The increasing number of students joining these Friday sessions and the sustained enthusiasm from UG’s Finex Alumni has spurred the need to make this skill available to a larger number of the university community.

Our goal in the future will be to expand this program to various tertiary institutions in Ghana and even reach out to lower levels (secondary and primary schools).

Skills You'll Learn

Connecting and shaping data

Creating relationships and data models

Analyzing data with DAX

Visualizing data with dashboards

Transitioning from Excel to Power BI

"Before joining the Finex community, my knowledge in Excel was nothing to write home about ..."

".. I thought excel was all about calculations and formulas. But upon making a decision to partake in the excel analytics and financial modelling courses, I not only gained skills in excel  but it opened my mind to a whole new world of what excel can do. Now I'm benefiting from this decision I made in school during the presentation of my school assignments and  it has also made me more efficient in my internship positions at work
